Scones
from the San Francisco Chronicle
2 1/2 cups flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
zest of 1 orange
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
Cut butter into dry ingredients. Beat egg and stir egg and milk into
dry ingredients. Knead a few times and form into a round scone. Cut
into eighths. Cook at 400F for 20-25 minutes.
You can also make these with chocolate chips or bits of apple.
I also have a new scone recipe:
2 cups flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
Roll 1/2 inch thick, cut into rounds, bake at 425F.
